Privacy Notice
This notice explains what Snorkel collects and how it is used. Snorkel is a private, invite-only beta operated by Testament Productions LLC, a California limited liability company. It is intended for people in the United States who are at least 18 years old. Use of Snorkel is also subject to the Terms of Service.
Information stored
- Account: your email address, used to issue invitations and identify your account.
- Your settings: your saved tickers, selected metrics, column order, and setup progress.
- Sign-in records: session records that keep you signed in and let us sign you out immediately. Your browser keeps a single essential sign-in cookie, and it also keeps a local copy of your watchlist so it opens quickly.
- Security records: a log of invitations, revocations, account changes, and successful sign-ins, including the time, the email involved, the administrator who acted, a request ID, and the network (IP) address that connected to our server. We also keep short-lived counters tied to network addresses to prevent abuse. Invitation links and session secrets are never written to these records.
- Shared market data: prices and financial figures we fetch and keep for a short time so we do not repeat requests. This is not linked to you.
Waitlist. If you join the waitlist on our website, we store your email address, anything you choose to type about which stocks you watch, and a short tag for the link you came from. We use it only to tell you when Snorkel opens and to understand what people want. You can ask to be removed at any time by replying to any message from us.
Free trial and payments. When you start a free trial we keep a one-way scrambled fingerprint of your email address (it cannot be turned back into the address) so that deleting and re-creating an account does not earn a second trial. We also keep anonymous daily counts of steps in signing up (for example, how many people started a trial from a given link), with no names or emails. Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never reach our servers; we receive only a customer reference and the date your subscription runs to.
We do not use advertising or analytics trackers, and we do not sell your personal information or share it for advertising.
How we use it
To run your account, show your watchlist, keep the service secure, prevent abuse, fix problems, and communicate with you about your access. We do not use your watchlist for any other purpose and do not make it public.
Who else is involved
- Data providers. To show prices and financial figures, our server asks third-party sources (currently Nasdaq.com and the U.S. SEC’s EDGAR system) for data about the tickers on watchlists. These requests come from our server and do not include your email address, but the providers may see the tickers requested and our server’s address.
- Hosting and connectivity. Snorkel runs on equipment controlled by the operator and is reached over the internet through a secure tunneling service. Your traffic passes through that service’s network, encrypted in transit.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect people, the service, or our rights.
- Email. If you receive an invitation or a sign-in link from us, it is sent through Google’s Gmail service, which handles the recipient’s address and the message. The links are one-time and are never written to our logs.
- Future services. If we add payments, the payment provider will receive the information needed to process your payment, and we will update this notice before you are charged.
Retention and deletion
We keep your account information while your account is active or as needed to run the beta. You can delete your account at any time from the Account page. That removes your watchlist settings, sessions, and invitations. In the security records, your email is replaced with a non-reversible placeholder, and a minimal record that an account was deleted remains. Expired invitation records are kept about 30 days, security records about one year, and abuse counters about 24 hours. Private backups may continue to contain deleted information for a limited period (typically a few weeks) until they are rotated out.
Security
We use encrypted connections, secure sign-in cookies, access limited to invited accounts, restricted administrator access, and private backups. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of your information. Keep your invitation link private.
Your choices
You can view and change your watchlist in the app, sign out of every device, and delete your account. To ask a privacy question or request removal of your information, email hello@snorkelstocks.com. We may need to verify that you own the account.
Children
Snorkel is not for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
We may update this notice. We will post the new version here and change the date above. If a change is significant, we will make a reasonable effort to tell you.
