How changes (▲ ▼) are measured

The small arrow under a number shows how it changed. Tap the button next to your stock count to switch between vs last year (the default), vs last quarter, or off. Income items (revenue, operating income, net income, free cash flow, EPS) compare the trailing 12 months with the trailing 12 months as of that earlier date, so seasonal swings don’t distort them. Balance-sheet items (cash, assets, liabilities, equity) compare the latest quarter-end with the quarter-end a year or a quarter earlier. Green is better and red is worse. Liabilities stay gray, because owing more isn’t automatically bad. In Choose Metrics, each metric that shows an arrow has a “Show % change” checkbox if you’d rather hide it. A percent measured from a very small or negative starting point can look large.
